Estimate a charging stop's full cost
A cheap energy tariff can still produce an expensive stop. Compare energy, parking, time and access together, then confirm that the connector works for your vehicle.
1. Check compatibility and usable access
Compare connector type, access hours, app or membership requirements and parking restrictions. A station's advertised power is a maximum capability, not the power your vehicle will sustain throughout a session. Check the operator's own instructions before relying on an unfamiliar location.
2. Separate energy and time charges
Write the unit next to every price: per kWh, per minute or per session. Add the car park's own charges and any idle rules separately. Do not compare a time-based tariff with a per-kWh price until you have stated an assumed charging rate and duration.
3. Keep a fallback stop
Availability is a current observation when supplied, not a reservation. A parking space being vacant does not establish that its charger is working. Save a compatible fallback and recheck the provider before travelling; keep promotional free-parking conditions separate from ordinary prices.
Work through a decision
Illustrative arithmetic, not a live tariff: 20 kWh at HK$3 costs HK$60 for energy. Two parking hours at HK$25 add HK$50, making HK$110 before any other fees. Replace every assumption with your operator's current terms.
